Farns_Product Idea

Keenan Farns
Week 2
Concept Development

For my initial concept, I have come up with 2 approaches for A sustainable lifestyle. They’re both have to do with health management. I think one of these 2 approaches would improve the way we sleep and eat.

1. Airport Nap beds: My opinion is that they’re aren’t a lot of sleeping bed within a lot of major airports around the world. I think that they should be important just in case if people’s flights would get delayed. Passengers however would pay A certain amount of fee and the beds they want to sleep in would be placed in a store somewhere, like headphone’s in Radio Shack or so. The beds would provide some sort of MP3 player installed in it, as well for satellite TV.

2. Food Pyramid App: To prevent starvation eating poorly, including getting cancer, I figure there should be some kind of nutrition app on what your body needs for on a daily basis. Accessing  The Food Pyramid App, requires having A particular mobile device, that can attach around your waist, allowing it to scan nutrients in your body, giving A voice command to give you what you need to eat and nourish.  There’s tons of living healthy magazines out there, but to my point of view, they give out too many steps on what to buy and for signing up for programs, that can be expensive. I figure, there should be an App that can scan your body and read what kinds of food you need during the week. The app will give you digital results, which will give solutions on how you’ll manage your diet. The Food Pyramid app would also, give consumers an option to sign up for email newsletters about facts, stories and opinions about what’s happening to food industries from around the world.
The target audience of this app would range between ages 18 to 60 and over.

  1. Keenan – two good ideas here. I would LOVE to have access to a private area in an airport that would offer a chance to rest. I have seen massage therapists that have storefronts near the loading areas, and I also know that you can join the airline’s private club that is usually behind a closed door, not sure what is in the room.

So – if you want to go with this idea, think about where these areas would be located. My first thought would be in the walls of those long corridors that lead to the gates. What if a door could slide up and you just slip in and lay down? Maybe it would be credit card operated? There could lots of these small areas… I wonder what else they could offer? Food? Drink? Alarm clocks, so you don’t miss your flight?

Your second idea is something that seems to be right around the corner, doesn’t it? Since we have body scanning already, and lots of Apps that give us nutritional information, as well as some that allow you to scan a barcode on a food package that will take you to a website with more information about the health of that food. So – I’m thinking that a device (more than an App, right?) that can scan your body to tell you if you need to hydrate, or that you need more calcium would be great.

But – I think this would need to be a new device, but could certainly be a phone/camera also. What would that device look like? Attaching to your waist is good – attaching to your wrist could also be a possibility. Your challenge, here, is to make this product appear different from an Apple Watch or mobile phone; something new and different.

Let’s see what other comments you get, and maybe that will help you decide which way to go.

  2. By the way – the Food Pyramid may be a bit out of date, they use a plate with percentages on it now called MyPlate.
